legit software package provides Git extension to assist in manipulating branches, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install legit
legit is installed in your system.
Make ensure the legit package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep legit *
You will get with legit package name, version, architecture and description in a table
